Petabyte pitches sleep-when-idle hosting for 24/7 AI agents with event-triggered wakeups
Petabyte-Cloud · reddit · 2026-10-28
A founder is building Petabyte, a hosting model for long-running AI agents where the agent stays available 24/7 but sleeps while idle, preserving state and memory. Incoming events — webhooks, cron jobs, messages — wake it up, and the job is routed to the cheapest compatible compute. The team also plans automatic CPU/GPU selection per task instead of pinning agents to one server. They're surveying what people currently use (VPS, AWS, RunPod, Modal, local hardware) and how much they pay monthly, and recruiting early testers.
