X updates algorithm again: copy-link shares weigh 20x, likes drop to 0.5x
generativist · x · 2026-10-28
X has updated its recommendation algorithm again. Key changes: a new "user debias" model adjusts engagement weight by how "generous" each viewer is — likes from users who like everything count less, while engagement from picky users counts more; engagement pods got weaker; video and image are now tracked as their own signals. Weighting: replies and quotes are 5x vs 0.5x for likes, DM shares are 5x, and copy-link shares are the strongest signal at 20x. Original, high-quality content still matters most.
