Revolut's LLM design workflow is 3-4x faster, but designers say it misses the point

- The story: Revolut CEO Storonsky noticed one design team moving much faster than the rest. They fed the company's design system to an LLM at the code level, prompted it to build new flows on top, and got clickable live interfaces instead of static frames — 3-4x faster. Now he's rolling it out to every designer.
- The pushback: Developer rsms argues "designing fast" is a category error — conflating assembly-line UI production with design itself. The hard part is deciding what the pieces are and what's being communicated, not arranging elements. Most AI design tools focus only on production; he'd rather see one that deeply understands a problem over months and works as a creative partner.
- karrisaarinen adds: since Apple proved in 1976 that taste and quality matter, tech has wanted to "do design" without understanding it.
