Running Two MCP Gateways Side by Side: Treg for Owned Keys, Agentik for the Rest
yashhhhhhhh_999 · reddit · 2026-10-28
A Reddit user shares a practical setup running two MCP gateways in parallel:
- Treg: reuses provider API keys they already pay for through a single MCP connection, without metering—covering existing investments;
- Agentik: handles services without accounts (fal image/video, Exa, free academic APIs), with one prepaid balance, per-run receipts, and automatic refunds for failed video generations.
In Claude Desktop both appear as ordinary connectors; the model picks the right one in practice, and the author names the gateway in prompts when it matters. They also tried Monid for 'find me X' research but skipped a third gateway.
Takeaway: Treg wins on breadth and reusing owned keys; Agentik wins on a curated set, per-run reservations/receipts, and per-key limits.
