LeCun: 'No way in hell' LLMs reach human-level AI, calling 'country of geniuses in a data center' BS

Turing Award winner Yann LeCun doubles down: there's 'absolutely no way in hell' LLMs reach human-level AI, and scaling won't get us there — 'definitely not in the next two years.' He calls the idea of 'a country of genius in the data center' complete BS, a direct shot at Dario Amodei's framing of Anthropic's trajectory.
What we'll actually get, he argues, is something that feels like 'a PhD sitting next to you. But it's not a PhD': a real PhD invents solutions to new problems, while today's models just find the ones that already exist — very fast.
