Researchers Debate Whether RSI Requires an Explosive Feedback Loop
dfrsrchtwts · x · 2026-10-28
Two researchers on X debate the definition of recursive self-improvement (RSI). One argues the RSI feedback loop is the recursive part, and that RSI should mean that loop is also explosive (r>1). The other is somewhat sympathetic to excluding r>1 from the definition, but notes people wouldn't normally say pre-2020 computer technology was undergoing RSI, suggesting the boundary remains contested.
