Anthropic is working with six drug developers and launching its own programs targeting rare childhood muscular dystrophies, with Claude doing much of the scientific and operational work:
- Cancer: Generate Biomedicines designed a CAR-T component 70% shorter with 10x more cancer-recognizing receptors, improving tumor killing.
- Muscular dystrophy: A one-person company used Claude to coordinate 11 external labs, reaching promising mouse results in under 18 months; human trials could start as early as late 2028.
- Food allergies: Claude generated 35,000 antibody designs in a month; 20 dislodged allergy-triggering IgE, 3 outperformed the standard medication on that measure.
- Better candidates: BigHat tested 1,010 variants in 10 weeks — best bound >10x tighter, one resisted precipitation at 18°C higher, another clumped 100x slower.
- Paperwork: At Enveda, Claude caught all 11 human-found issues plus 7 missed, cutting review time 89%; one regulatory draft took 4 hours vs 3 months manually.
