CoreWeave builds first AI-purpose global backbone: 51 data centers, APAC/Middle East expansion
OnlineInference · x · 2026-10-28
CoreWeave announced the first global backbone network purpose-built for AI. It currently links 51 active data centers across North America and Europe (8 added in 2026) representing 1.5+ GW active power and 4.2 GW contracted, over a Petabit-scale backbone — enough to stream 4K to 66 million people at once — with MACsec hardware encryption at line rate so security costs no throughput. Starting Q4 2026, new PoPs come online in UAE, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, and Japan, spanning four continents. A 22.5 MW renewables-powered data center in Copenhagen is also live.
