A new open source model: closed to pull requests, open to remix

Geoffrey Huntley proposes a new open source model for the AI era: "closed to pull requests, open to remix." Key points:
- GitHub operationalized the bazaar via PRs, but that model was already cracking pre-AI: consumer entitlement, maintainers nagged to merge, unpaid maintenance expectations.
- With AI, agent-generated PRs are pointless to read — maintainers only need the core idea, and may incorporate good ones upstream without obligation.
- Open source is defined by the license: "as is" permits remixing; remix only seemed hard due to a knowledge gap. New model: close the PR gate, welcome forks and remixes.
Shared by Kieran Klaassen in response to trq212's point that coding agents can modify software but won't automatically merge upstream.
