Anthropic hiring manager kills the coding interview: "It no longer provides signal"
felixrieseberg · x · 2026-10-28
Felix Rieseberg, a hiring manager at Anthropic, has removed traditional coding interviews from his team's hiring loop, arguing that small coding challenges no longer predict success now that Claude handles them easily — even in real codebases.
In an accompanying blog post, he offers an optimistic take for junior engineers: impact is no longer bounded by years of accumulated framework knowledge. Newer engineers are outpacing more experienced coders — "hunger beats tenure" — and his advice targets engineers lacking social capital or status: know your fresh-eyes advantage, and lean into drive over credentials.
