OSS maintainer on unexpected adoption: keeping an inference engine alive is a real commitment
FeydRowan · reddit · 2026-10-28
Reddit user FeydRowan shared what happens after an inference engine project unexpectedly gains users: every few days he spends hours reading issues, reproducing bugs, reviewing PRs and answering everyone.
His workflow: pick tasks Claude can do fast and build-test-ship them; once the backlog of bigger items grows, spend a serious percentage of his weekly Claude limit having Claude do the heavy lifting, then check and ship. The accompanying meme chart shows stars, issues & PRs and replies all at 0, captioned "AI writes the code."
Takeaway: AI or no AI, keeping an open-source project alive is a real commitment.
