The Verge reports that Anthropic's pre-IPO S-1 filing openly acknowledges its data centers increasingly depend on natural gas (mostly methane), with some planned sites powered by on-site gas turbines — exposing the company to rising fuel costs and supply constraints amid a $50B data center expansion. It even admits global warming will raise its own operating costs. AI researcher Toby Walsh shared it with a jab: "Hardly the good guys."
