qwen-code bug: ordinary messages hang for many turns while a Goal is active
p-poppe · ghdev · 2026-10-27
A bug report on QwenLM/qwen-code (CLI 0.26.0/0.26.1 and main): while a Goal is actively running, ordinary user input — Enter-submitted steering messages or pasted text — is never delivered at the next safe sampling boundary. It stays queued and only /goal commands are admitted; the message only lands after the Goal is paused, cleared or completed, so it can appear to hang for many turns on long Goals.
The root cause is in useMessageQueue.ts, where drainQueue only admits goal-prefixed commands. The reporter expects Enter-submitted messages to be steered into the running turn at the nearest boundary, with Ctrl+Q as the explicit defer-to-idle path. Labeled P2 with 6 comments.
