LinkedIn's APM becomes "Product Builder": PM-to-engineer ratio hits 1:1
aakashgupta · x · 2026-10-28
Aakash Gupta traces the rise of the "product builder": LinkedIn quietly renamed its APM program to Associate Product Builder in fall 2025. Freshworks' CPO Srini Raghavan says AI-native teams went from 1 PM per 10–20 engineers to nearly 1:1. Laurel's CPO Jiaona Zhang now runs a 9-person product org of senior PMs shipping to production, down from managing hundreds. The PM/designer/engineer boundaries are blurring, though specialists still matter. Gupta speaks on the topic at the AI Champions conference, Oct 29.
