Agency video editing with Opus 5.5: senior editor ships 5x edits per day

The author shares a hands-on workflow for agentic video editing with Claude Opus 5.5:
- Output: after switching from timeline editing to agents, a senior video editor now ships 5x edits per day at the same quality; most cuts get approved at v1 or v2.
- Tooling: Opus 5.5 edits ads natively with no MCPs or plugins; the author found nothing significantly better than staying inside Claude.
- Skill building: senior editors build many mini-skills per edit style (mashups, UGC, AI animations) rather than one big skill, keeping context relevant — feed Claude 4-5 inspiration edits and ask it to make a skill. Training loop: have the skill re-edit the editor's last 25 ads, review each in an artifact, iterate until it understands a good edit.
- Org rollout: only A-player editors should train skills; the AI champion builds v1 then gets out of the way; record top editors' screens with narration of their reasoning (cut choices, pacing, b-roll) as skill context.
- Mindset: address job fears head-on — taste becomes more valuable, not less; assume this is the worst video editing will ever be, and skills built today only appreciate as models improve.
