At the first-season NEDO Quantum Challenge awards on October 15, all nine prize-winning teams across the three tracks (Society 5.0, Quality of Life, Cool Japan) used IBM quantum hardware, with six relying on it exclusively.
- Projects spanned disaster prevention, transaction security, microbiome design, drug discovery, materials research, music generation, and manga production
- Some teams used Qiskit Functions from Q-CTRL and Kipu Quantum
- Two teams, Q4Health and EntangleTune, have already launched startups based on their competition work
IBM also provided technical guidance, workshops, and educational content throughout the challenge.
