Cursor's new Agent SDK copies eve.dev conventions, signaling an emerging standard for agentic development

Malte Ubl observes that Cursor's newly released Agent SDK follows eve.dev's conventions to the letter in many cases — which he sees as a new standard for agentic development emerging, much like file-based routing spread across web frameworks.
eve's tool convention is minimal and elegant:
- Tools live under agent/tools/; the filename is the tool name the model sees (e.g. getweather.ts → getweather)
- Each tool defines a model-facing description, a required inputSchema (Zod, Standard Schema, or plain JSON Schema — validated before execute runs and used for type inference), and an execute(input, ctx) implementation
- An optional outputSchema types structured return values
- Authored tools run in your app runtime with full process.env access; external MCP/OpenAPI services plug in via connections
Screenshots show Cursor's Agent SDK tool definitions (defineTool + Zod schema + execute) nearly identical to eve's, suggesting the "file-as-tool" convention is becoming the de facto standard across major agent products.
