Four Gemini agents beat Minecraft autonomously in 27 hours, writing 2,783 programs

A Google DeepMind paper shows four Gemini 4 Argon coding agents completing Minecraft end-to-end with no human help — reportedly the first fully autonomous completion. Given only one goal (defeat the Ender Dragon) and the Mineflayer library, the agents organized roles via chat and shared memory, wrote 2,783 programs, died 605 times, and killed the dragon in 27h14m on a random Easy world. The feat demands holding one coherent plan across thousands of dependent steps — the same long-horizon skill needed for real software and business tasks. Single run, so success rate is unknown. Practical takeaway: before writing custom planners for long tasks, try general coding agents with a plain API and shared memory.
