Proton to 're-interview' staff about AI usage, with outcomes possibly deciding who keeps their job

According to an internal email obtained by 404 Media, Proton (the company behind ProtonMail) told staff Monday it would 're-interview' employees company-wide between Nov 4–11 about how they use AI, implying results may affect 'continued employment.' Interviewers come from a pool of leaders 'who demonstrate strong AI capability' and sit outside the employee's team and reporting line; assessments will be documented and 'may lead to changes in roles, responsibilities, and continued employment.' CEO Andy Yen has been pushing AI adoption, including the privacy chatbot Lumo, and personally interviewed 40+ senior Engineering and Product leaders to start the process. The email stresses the need for people who can 'translate AI's capabilities into better products, stronger execution, and new ways of working.'
