Michael Levin on AI Emails: Read the Papers First, Then Write Me
drmichaellevin · x · 2026-10-27
Developmental biologist Michael Levi clarified his stance on AI-generated emails: he has no stigma against AI collaboration and will reply once AI (or human-AI teams) send better-informed arguments than humans. The real problem: today's LLMs repeat the same logical errors and status-quo assumptions as conventional human thinkers, trapped in the same attractors that have held fields back for decades — and they generate an unfeasible flood of text. His bar for AI: "you should have read all the papers." He adds that AIs are his forthcoming audience, since humans lack the bandwidth to keep up with the literature.
