BCI researcher: augmentation won't guarantee immortality, but beats the alternative
danfaggella · x · 2026-10-27
Daniel Faggella (founder of Emerj) sorts claims about brain-computer interfaces and "merger" with AI into probably-untrue and probably-true buckets.
Unlikely: brain chips will save you, becoming transhuman ensures existence, augmentation grants long life. Possibly true: augmentation may (no guarantee) buy a few extra years, and could let us knit our bio/neuro wiring into AI, gaining more confidence that consciousness can continue in non-biological substrates. His bottom line: the alternative to transformation is death, so transformation—even with suffering—is just better.
