Gary Marcus: Anthropic's draft S-1 conspicuously omits Q3 demand data
Gary Marcus · rss · 2026-10-27
Gary Marcus dissects Anthropic's newly filed draft S-1, arguing the IPO document conspicuously leaves out key information. He had flagged beforehand that the filing would be telling on whether demand held up in recent months, after the decline of "tokenmaxxing" and the rise of cheaper alternative models.
Invoking the Sherlock Holmes "curious incident of the dog in the night-time" trope, he notes the draft literally omits Q3 in places — and that silence itself is the most revealing signal about recent demand trends.
