Open Robotics announced that Alejandro Hernández Cordero (@ahcorde) is the new ROS project lead. He wrote his first ROS node in 2012, maintained ROS 2 core packages and Gazebo integration at Open Robotics, and now works at Honu Robotics.
Priorities: shipping ROS 2 Makoa Mata-mata on May 23, 2027; growing the maintainer base so ROS doesn't depend on a handful of people; keeping ROS–Gazebo simulation-to-real integration smooth; working with OSRA, the TGC and PMC on project priorities.
