Investor ditches equity-style partnerships: prove you can do good business first
StewartalsopIII · x · 2026-10-26
Stewart Alsop III says he has abandoned venture-style investing entirely and is designing a new capital vehicle fit for the AI age. He now questions equity-style partnership itself: pairing up on a cap table is like getting married after knowing each other for a month, and adding a venture-style investor breeds nonsense hustle culture (though he concedes rockets and foundational models genuinely require it).
His only criterion now: can I do good business with this person — can we both make money while delivering a valuable service or product? If that works for a year, then the equity conversation can happen — an insight he finds incredibly liberating.
