First macro evidence of AI productivity? Adopting sectors jump from 2.2% to 5.0% trend
herbiebradley · x · 2026-10-26
EPB Research data suggests AI productivity gains are showing up, but only in 15% of jobs. The three heaviest AI adopters—information, professional services, and finance—moved from a 2.2% productivity trend to 5.0% since 2022, while the rest of the economy went from just 0.9% to 1.4%.
Herbie Bradley calls it possibly the first macro-level evidence of AI productivity increases, but cautions the trend is too long-running to attribute to AI alone—plausible over the past 12-18 months, less so for 2022-2023.
