teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-26
teortaxesTex argues Dario Amodei's sharpest recent insight is that the rest of the industry is less AGI-pilled than he is — so Anthropic can piggyback on rivals' compute capex by shipping attractive models without overcommitting itself. He quotes Dario pushing back on Dwarkesh Patel: "$300 billion of compute per year in two years is a lot... We don't want to go bankrupt if our forecasts are off by a year." The author quips Sam Altman wasn't cynical enough.
