Vjeux · x · 2026-10-26
Vjeux, the well-known engineer behind React and Windsurf, is playing with the Muse Open Kernel Challenge and praises a competitor named colinlikescode as "cooking." His team's live leaderboard shows prefilllayer at 1.780x (#16/431, 10.3% behind leader luccabb at 1.963x), while colinlikescode holds #1 on the other four problems: bf16proj (1.624x vs 1.480x), attentiondecode (2.916x vs 2.323x, a 25.5% gap), moew4a16 (2.554x vs 2.136x), and decodelayer (2.360x vs 1.936x). Vjeux admits he has never written a kernel and has no idea what these optimizations do.
