Resin: a runtime that lets agents write forward passes to build standalone LLM inference engines
andersonbcdefg · x · 2026-10-26
Developer ekzhang1 unveiled Resin, a personal project: a runtime for building fast LLM inference engines. The idea is to make all generic parts of inference reusable, leaving only the model-specific forward pass plus kernels to be written per architecture and hardware target.
Building an engine takes two steps:
- Import Resin's core.
- Have an agent write the forward pass for your target model and hardware (GPU, TPU, or AMD), plus any kernels you want.
The result is a standalone inference engine. The author has been hacking on it for a month, and this week landed many features and parallelisms. The launch drew notable attention from the community.
