Official MCP for manufacturing and engineering: only Autodesk for CAM, Wolfram and MATLAB for math
YerdosVictory · reddit · 2026-10-26
The author surveys engineering software with official MCP support for Claude (part 2: manufacturing and calculations).
Manufacturing
- Autodesk Fusion Compute MCP: cloud server, no local Fusion install needed; supports parametric modeling, CAM setup, assemblies, STL/STEP export. CAM leaders Mastercam, Hypertherm ProNest, and Lantek have no official MCP.
- Furniture/woodworking software (Cabinet Vision, HOMAG iX, Microvellum) also lacks MCP; a practical workaround is SketchUp via the Claude connector plus Fusion for milling CAM.
3D printing
- OctoEverywhere: free cloud MCP compatible with Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic, Klipper, and OctoPrint; shows print status, pause/resume/cancel — though it's from OctoEverywhere, not printer vendors.
Math and calculations
- Wolfram Cloud MCP: in Claude's connector catalog, works without an account, calls Wolfram|Alpha and runs Wolfram Language code; Wolfram Local MCP connects to local Mathematica or Wolfram Engine.
- MathWorks' official MATLAB MCP Server: open source, executes and verifies MATLAB code, requires a local MATLAB license.
Takeaway: official integrations for manufacturing are scarce (essentially only Autodesk), while calculations are much better served thanks to Wolfram and MathWorks.
