SoundBit: open-source chiptune workstation with a built-in MCP server for live AI composing
RenasDev · reddit · 2026-10-26
SoundBit is an open-source (GPL-3.0) chiptune workstation with a built-in MCP server (streamable HTTP on localhost or stdio), exposing 30 tools usable from any MCP client. The agent edits the song open in the editor in real time, with every change landing in a shared undo history labeled "AI:". Batch tools like patterncreate and arrangementplacemany write whole bars/arrangements in one call and one undo step. exportwav returns per-track peak and RMS levels so the agent can mix "without ears" (e.g., detecting bass masking melody). Agent-friendly errors, 32 presets, loopback-only security with sandboxed file access.
