50-year-old dad dives into AI agents, starting with HermesAgentDesktop
Teknium · x · 2026-10-26
A Japanese user set up HermesAgent for his 50-something father who wanted to learn AI agents from scratch. Commenters recommend HermesAgentDesktop as the best beginner agent: outputs can be saved as Skills for reuse, and it later supports Telegram automation. Unlike Codex or Claude Code it offers more freedom with no provider lock-in, so beginners can experiment with different models. The attached screenshot shows the father already using the agent to convert a guitar-tab PDF into an improved TAB sheet with verified chord fingerings.
