A cybersecurity bounty hunter revealed that Samsung smart TVs use AI to record audio and capture screenshots for ad targeting — even repurposing connected soundbars as makeshift microphones and tracking skipped ads. The researcher mocked the finding: "Finally found a company that truly listens to its customers."
kimmonismus cites this as more proof that local AI is a necessity: keeping inference on-device is the only way to stop cloud ad systems from mining living-room privacy.
