HCI researcher bets AI can finally make Bayesian stats usable for small-N studies
IanArawjo · x · 2026-10-25
Ian Arawjo shares work-in-progress on a modern handbook of empirical methods in HCI and argues that Bayesian statistics never took off mainly because of usability — not because of its merits. Since Bayesian methods are more trustworthy at small sample sizes, he believes AI assistance now makes it feasible to build a solid wrapper library that simplifies Bayesian analysis (e.g., ordinal models for Likert ratings) for HCI researchers.
