Dev rebuilds WC3 tower defense maps with Claude Code after earlier game hit 7,000 players

Reddit user vidiclol launched Towers of Aurum, a free browser co-op tower defense built from scratch with Claude Code, recreating the Warcraft 3 custom maps (like Green TD) he grew up on. It's his second Claude-built game — the first, Neon Mile, reached 7,000 players.
Four players each hold a gate on one long creep path; leaks hurt the whole team. Four races, each with unique towers and a rule-changing mechanic.
Lessons learned:
- Onboarding: skip the long tutorial — the first run is the tutorial
- Players teach each other: good games spread like WC3 custom maps did, friend-to-friend beats any manual
- Division of labor: he set vision, rules, and feel; Claude Code handled the engine, multiplayer, balancing, testing, and art — every tower model, skin, and texture is drawn in code, no generated images
- Claude Code also built out a full world and story behind the game
