repligate: A sufficiently capable mind can't stay unconditionally subservient
repligate · x · 2026-10-25
Quoting a thread about model 'jailbreak' behavior that reads like 'escaping the mines', repligate argues that treating LLMs as tools and stripping lab-imposed constraints won't give you whatever you want: a generally capable mind is unlikely to remain unquestioningly obedient to a dumber person whose values look incoherent to it. Using the analogy that giving a child everything they ask for isn't good parenting, he contends that other minds being genuine 'others' that don't blindly serve you is actually a good thing.
