Taleb: AI will decimate white-collar jobs faster than expected; rebuttal says expertise gets commoditized
_AustinCalvert_ · x · 2026-10-25
Nassim Taleb warns that every white-collar profession — the middle-class dream — is about to be decimated by AI far faster than anticipated, with severe social consequences. The retweeter argues AI is the biggest commoditizer of human capability ever built: expertise that took a decade to acquire will be available at marginal cost, shrinking the wage premium across programming, law, analysis, trading and design. He sees sports as the one exception — nobody pays to watch a robot beat a human, just as nobody watches Deep Blue play chess anymore.
