Claude Code patches Flight Simulator 95/98 to run on 64-bit Windows with an 86-byte vectored exception handler fix
Torturephile · reddit · 2026-10-25
A longtime Flight Simulator fan used Claude Code to diagnose why FS95 and FS98 crash on 64-bit Windows. Claude found FS98's EXE contains Microsoft's divide-by-zero handler inside try/except, which 64-bit Windows can't reach within window callbacks. The patch adds 86 bytes at the entry point registering the routine via AddVectoredExceptionHandler, covering every division. FS95's routine lives in DIVTRAP.DLL. Both games now run on 64-bit Windows; a patcher download is available.
