NextDC plunges 40% in a day: the real AI bottleneck is the power line, not contracts

The author argues the real AI data center bottleneck is the power line. NextDC, Australia's biggest listed data center developer, lost 40% in a day on Oct 21 after its utility paused grid upgrades at its Melbourne site until February — no power, no rent, and loans don't wait. Contracts don't help either: Nscale lists $103B of contracted work (85% from Microsoft and Anthropic), yet Microsoft walked away from its UK site on Oct 18. A contract doesn't connect power, finance chips, or put up buildings.
