SpaceX monetizes ~$50B per GW of AI compute with 1-year payback vs CoreWeave's $20B

Elon Musk amplified an analysis of AI infrastructure economics citing David Sacks on All-In: SpaceX generates roughly $50B in monetization per GW with about a 1-year payback, versus CoreWeave's $20B per GW and 2.5-year payback. The key difference is contract structure — CoreWeave relies on long-term commitments to finance buildout, while SpaceX's balance sheet lets it run shorter contracts and capture today's elevated compute pricing, then reinvest recovered capital into more capacity. Musk added that supercomputer buildout has a strict list of limitations: miss any one, however trivial, and the compute doesn't work.
