Author builds SQLite database of 4,555 canonical facts before writing his fantasy novel

Aaron D. Francis shared his unusual start on his first low-fantasy book: instead of writing prose first, he built a SQLite database containing 4,555 canonical facts about his fictional universe — who's alive, who owes who, and what happened when. The whole universe is structured; book one is just the beginning. Others joked that this is how Tolkien would do it today. The approach is a neat reference for keeping long-form fiction consistent, especially when co-writing with LLMs.
