Anthropic now advises removing unneeded subagents; single agent with skills runs 2x faster
blaizedsouza · x · 2026-10-25
Anthropic is recommending companies strip out unnecessary subagents after finding a single agent equipped with skills often outperforms complex multi-agent systems, with one customer seeing roughly 2x faster execution. Rules of thumb: Skills teach the agent how to do things; Tools/MCP give it ability to act via APIs and live data; subagents only for parallel work, isolated context, or tasks a single agent struggles with. Commenters blame Twitter hype for encouraging blind parallelism over thoughtful context management.
