Google's Jon Barron shares his full AI paper-writing workflow with Gemini
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-25
Google researcher Jon Barron detailed how he wrote the softmax paper: Gemini models found the bug and ran most experiments, Gemini 4 Argon drafted the paper and figures, he nitpicked the draft until solid, then had the model rewrite it in his style using his past first-author papers — and finally rewrote it by hand. Lesson: AI accelerates drafting, but the author stays responsible for every claim.
