Veteran engineer: the observability pipeline your agents can act on will decide security winners
Flaky-Eggplant-3479 · reddit · 2026-10-25
A senior engineer (paid to write code since 2006) argues observability has always been hard—telemetry goes stale, tags explode, logs get forgotten—but agents change everything. Agents can optimize or hyper-tailor your telemetry stack, and giving coding agents easy access to telemetry makes them more successful. Reflecting on recent costly security incidents, he contends security monitoring is a form of observability: the winning companies will build the most useful telemetry pipelines and let agents autonomously consume and respond to events—e.g., an agent rotating all credentials after the first suspicious requests. Isolating agent access is today's concern, but agents deeply integrated into the SDLC may be the end state.
