Dev shares why Once is the only AI reading app his 4-year-old stuck with for months

After trying many learning apps with his 4-year-old, the author says Once is the only one they stuck with for months, thanks to three design choices: a daily co-learning habit loop, lightweight gamification (a silly photo with your kid after each lesson), and physical books mailed after 30 lessons so kids read independently and feel accomplished. His daughter now sometimes picks Once books over YouTube and the phone.
