Hospital hands him a Windows XP disc, Claude Code reads his X-ray instead
korymath · x · 2026-10-25
After a jiu-jitsu rib injury, the hospital handed him X-rays on a CD requiring a viewer built for Windows XP and a Pentium 4. He copied the DICOM files to his Mac, ran Claude Code with --dangerously-skip-permissions, and had it extract and read the scans — Claude even spun up a DICOM viewer web app unprompted. Its diagnosis (fractured 7th rib, lungs fine) matched the doctor's callback.
The attached image is an AI-generated meme version of the X-ray with humorous annotations of the fracture and other findings — a funny collision of legacy medical IT and modern AI workflows.
