Carmack amplifies Goose: a memory-safe systems language that beats C++ and Rust without a heap

John Carmack retweeted Goose, a new open-source programming language (1.3k GitHub stars, Apache-2.0) built on an idea Carmack had discussed:
- No heap allocator, no GC, no lifetime annotations: every dynamic value lives inline on a compiler-managed data stack; growth advances a pointer and memory is freed at scope end
- Compile-time safety: type and lifetime rules make the memory model safe, with statically reserved huge stacks, bump allocation, and stable pointers
- Performance claims: in the repo's benchmarks Goose runs faster than C++ and safe Rust while using less memory, with C/Rust-familiar syntax
