AGENTS.md isn't enough: a 5-layer setup for shared coding-agent memory

The author shows AGENTS.md only solves half the problem: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode all read it, but it holds rules, not knowledge. In a test across two repos, one agent found a payments-API retry policy doc while Codex found nothing and confidently answered wrong.
His fix is a 5-layer setup: keep AGENTS.md under 200 lines (build, test, conventions, prohibitions) plus a section pointing to where knowledge lives, then build shared context layers so runbooks, API docs and past decisions reach every agent session. Full details in his article "How I give every coding agent the same memory."
