Google Play now installs private self-built apps as AI Studio turns prompts into Android apps

Google rolled out a no-code pipeline for personal apps, headlined by a key change: Google Play now lets you install private apps directly on your own phone with no developer account or public listing (adults, select countries first).
The flow:
- Enter a one-two sentence prompt in AI Studio and it generates a working Android app with screens, buttons, and dark mode;
- Preview instantly in a built-in browser phone emulator;
- Iterate by natural language ('make the calendar bigger', 'add a notes section') and the app rebuilds;
- Install on your phone via Google Play for free.
Suggested uses: expense trackers, workout planners, study apps, content calendars, habit trackers. Google says sharing with friends and family is coming.
