Google AI Studio Lets Anyone Build Android Apps for Free and Install Them Privately

Google has launched a fully no-code workflow for building personal Android apps: a new "Build an Android app" entry in the Build tab of AI Studio lets users generate a complete, runnable Android app from a single natural-language description—entirely free and with no programming required.

Confirmed

• AI Studio Build can generate a full app with UI, buttons, dark mode, calendar, search, and local data storage, all from one description
• A new Google Play policy allows installing private apps directly on your own phone: no developer account or public release needed, and the app is visible only to you
• The feature is for adults and is rolling out first in select countries
• @TawohAwa posted a hands-on tutorial thread with a complete prompt example for building "Creator Desk," a creator management app that saves content ideas, writes video hooks, schedules posts, and tracks progress
• @aitrendzxyz also confirmed the full workflow of generating an Android app from one prompt plus private installation via Play

Why it matters

• This is the first time AI coding capability has been connected to an official app distribution channel: ordinary users can have their own mobile app without writing code, publishing publicly, or paying
• For content creators and others who need personalized tools, it means building workflow apps on demand (like Creator Desk–style management tools) instead of waiting for third-party developers
