Dev ships userscript to bring back ChatGPT's old conversation table of contents
TonyHMeow · reddit · 2026-10-23
Reddit user TonyHMeow released an MIT-licensed userscript that restores ChatGPT's removed table-of-contents navigation: hover to reveal a compact list of your prompts, click to jump to that part of the chat.
Features include working from the first prompt, showing real prompt text instead of numbered labels, following your current section while scrolling, and light/dark mode support. Technically it builds its index by reading ChatGPT's conversation data separately from mounted messages—jumping to an older unmounted prompt reloads the conversation directly to that target.
Read-only requests to ChatGPT itself, no third-party transmission, analytics, or API keys. Installable via Greasy Fork, aimed at desktop Chrome + Tampermonkey.
